Celebrating Bruce Trail Day with a Donation, Thanks to Many

In celebration of Bruce Trail Day today, I am happy to report that with the help and contributions of many, we raised just shy of $7000 for the Bruce Trail Conservancy through our Bruce Trail Inspired Art Show at The HUB last week. This money will go toward the conservancy’s mission of preserving a ribbon of wilderness, for everyone, forever.

Thank you to the art collectors who ultimately made it possible for us to give such a contribution to the conservancy. May the art bring light into your lives and fond memories for years to come.

There are many more to thank who made this possible.

Thank you, so much, to all who helped to spread the word:

  • Truly grateful to Regina Haggo for writing such a great GO section cover page article for the Hamilton Spectator, “Hamilton artists explore the Bruce Trail’s majesty in new exhibition.” We had many visitors, some who became collectors, show up with the article in their hands as they tracked down The HUB.

  • The Bruce Trail Conservancy shared the news with its members, and the Bruce Trail, Iroquoia section club also actively shared news and progress on social media (as well as volunteered on site).

  • Art In Action, Burlington Studio Tour showed up time and again, sharing our social media posts on Instagram and Facebook, cheering us on, and visiting the show, taking pictures and sharing those as well.

  • Diana Zimber with the Arts and Culture Council of Burlington was also an enthusiastic supporter, sharing our news and progress through many channels.

  • Gloria Hildebrandt with the Niagara Escarpment Views magazine shared the details on their Facebook page and in a blog post.

  • A Bruce Trail Facebook Group let us share the news with many more like-minded and supportive trail enthusiasts.

  • And many others took it upon themselves to forward and share the news.

  • If I have missed anyone specifically, I apologize and thank you as well!

You all helped us to get the word out. So grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thank you to Bruce Trail volunteers Peter and Samar who came out every day to help us and chat about the Bruce Trail with visitors to the show. And I will always cherish the barn board plaque made by Peter with official Bruce Trail markers and presented to us at the end of the show.

Thanks to all with common interests in the trails and art who could come out and see the show and share stories. It was fun to share our blazed trail through the show (with trail enthusiasts and those new to the trail) and hear about other’s connections with the trail, end-to-end tales, and other experiences.

The white trail blazes marked the path to follow through the show. Or at least were great conversation starters!

Grateful also for others with interests in painting and other art forms who were able to come out and talk about what they like to do, the Burlington Fine Arts Association (BFAA: our hosts for the show), as well as other guilds at the Art Gallery of Burlington.

I would like to thank the BFAA for giving us this opportunity, and extend that thanks also to Burlington Centre for the use of The HUB and for their kind security staff who helped us out during the show. And I would like to acknowledge and thank the BFAA for reducing our commission for the show from 20% to 10% so we could give more to the Bruce Trail Conservancy.

Thank you to my friends and family who encouraged and supported me through a long creative block and successes, and to those of you I am just getting to know through social media who followed along or sent kind words along the way.

Finally, I would like to thank my partners in the show, Victoria Pearce (who had the idea for this show) and Anne More. I truly enjoyed the experience, learned lots, and look forward to seeing more of you on the trails as we find inspiration for our canvases.

I hope I have captured everyone here! I am truly grateful for this wonderful experience. Thank you, all, with all of my heart.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to purchase art in support of the Bruce Trail Conservancy and other charities near and dear to my heart. I am working on pages where a percentage of the proceeds of anything purchased will be directed to specific charities. Check back on my online store pages, periodically, from now until the end of the year.
