The Arts and Culture Council of Burlington is hosting a kick-off evening for Culture Days at the Art Gallery of Burlington on Friday Sept 28th from 6:30 - 9pm. There will be lots on the go throughout the gallery, in the Shoreline Room, the Fireside Lounge, the Children’s Studio, and in the Fine Arts Studio where I will be for Art in Action.
Set throughout the cobblestone lanes of the Distillery Historic District in downtown Toronto, ArtFest celebrates painting, photography, sculpture, fine craft, live music, and more. My tent is at booth spot D15, near Balzac's Café, from what I understand. Please stop by to say hi if you are in the area! 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. FREE admission
I am so excited to be part of this again this year! In a “celebration of the arts in all its forms …,” jazz, classical, folk, and world music set the stage for curated fine art exhibits and artisan vendors, and a variety of arts activities for families with young children. Two stages this year, and more performers and artists than their first two years. Look for me during daylight hours on the way to the Gallery Stage in the Franklin Street Artisan Vendor Zone. Or nearby the stages thereafter. Licensed event. Artisan Vendors
Both paintings I submitted for consideration were accepted into the 26th Art In the Workplace Exhibit at McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton. The opening reception is Thursday, March 29th, 2018 (7 to 9 p.m.). The group exhibit will be available for viewing in the Atrium at McMaster Innovation Park, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) from March 29th to June 27th, 2018.
From my "past life": I was honoured to be on the steering committee of this conference from 2005 to 2010. This year, their theme is Succession: Nature of Change - a perfect opportunity to share my own change, from science-focused work with the federal government to becoming an artist ... the constant: my love of nature and environmental protection/restoration, and wanting to make a difference in some way — with art, perhaps fostering nostalgia and ongoing care for our natural spaces. My current plan is also to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of my nature originals and reprodutions to the Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System efforts.
